Children Of Eir

To Eir and Tyr

This site is dedicated to Eir and to Tyr. It may be obvious to you why this site is dedicated to Eir, but not obvious why it is dedicated to Tyr, so for those who know not who Eir is I shall first speak of her and then I will speak of Tyr and why I have dedicated this site to him.

Eir, for those who are not familiar with her is the Deity in the Norse pantheon who is most often seen as being connected with healing. She is one of Frigga's Handmaidens and can be seen guiding the hands of surgeons in extreme situations. I personally see her as being young (in her twenties)to middle aged(about her fourties)and being careworn but beautiful of guise. I see her as dressing either in white and gold or in white and blue primarily. I often see her as having wheat blonde hair and wearing it in a circlet of palest gold.  In my mind she does not smile often but when she does it means that all is well in the world and her face lights up like the sun. In her hand I most often would see a surgeon's needle and catgut.

Tyr. Well we pretty much know Tyr on an intimate level. How it is that he represents both warfare and justice. How he came by this through sacrificing his arm to the Wolf Fenris when none of the AEsir would do so. And how it is that folk see him as a very upright fellow. But not someone to turn to for mercy the majority of the time. So you are probably wondering why it is that he is the individual that I have paired up with Eir for dedication to this site.  The truth of the matter is, that I feel that through the loss of his arm Tyr has a unique perspective. He understands what it is to be disabled, the arm most often displayed as gulped down by Fenris is his right arm which in most people is the dominate arm. So he would have had to relearn how to work with his body. And I am sure that though he is seen as not having a great deal of mercy, simply the act of being the individual to give up so much of himself shows that he has the capacity within him. Also, I gave my word to Tyr as well as to Eir that I would get this site functional. I most often see Tyr either in his younger phase(around thirty or so) with dark hair untouched by gray, at his fighting prime dressed for battle with a sword in hand. Or later in life, around fifty or so, with gray at his temples, in full armor, shield strapped to his right arm and a spear in his left hand still strong in heart and body but more grim of demeanor.

Though this has been a long time coming it is my harvest. I dedicate it to Eir and to Tyr, that they may reach out to others, to give them hope, to give them aid, and to heal those wounds that have been inflicted upon them by whatever means.
